Aleksandra's Note: Nikola Tesla, a Serbian legend born on July 10, 1856 in the village of Smiljan in the Lika region of modern day Croatia, at that time under the Austro-Hungarian empire, in recent years has finally been getting the due credit he is owed for contributing so many wonderful inventions to our world and our daily lives. We benefit from the fruits of his genius every day. Thanks to the efforts of people who recognize the debt we owe him, the name of Nikola Tesla has been gaining the prominence it deserves.
The Serbians have made many positive contributions to world history and modern culture and society, and Nikola Tesla is among the most notable. My hope is that the day will come when the history books give the Tesla name the honor and recognition it deserves.
