Serbia's King Peter I enters Belgrade with victorious Serb army
December 1914
"...ultimately, if the Austro-Hungarians fought well enough, the Serbs, defending their homeland, fought better. In the end, when despite all difficulties and mistakes, Potiorek almost achieved his objectives at the end of November 1914, the struggle came down to a thin margin. As Clausewitz observed, war is a contest of wills, and in December 1914 the will of the Serb commanders and soldiers proved stronger than that of their opponents."
